AGRUCULTURAL
TESCO NATURE’S CHOICE
Nature’s Choice is a protocol created by TESCO, whose purpose is that all its suppliers show their commitment to protect and, whenever possible, to improve the environment and the public health. Thus, TESCO assures its clients that fruits and vegetables are obtained from suppliers with environmentally-responsible sustainable production and handling systems that implement methods that reduce materials and energy use and minimize waste. All this involves a strong commitment from all workers and a high degree of technical expertise.
This protocol is one of TESCO global requirements for all its suppliers. Companies that don't have this certificate CAN NOT be TESCO suppliers.
Agrícola San Clemente has been granted certification for all its orchards, which can be now annually renewed and eventually every two years if a high percentage of the requirements is met (GOLD Standard).
GLOBALGAP
GlobalGAP is a private entity that formulates rules for voluntary certification of agricultural products (including aquaculture- and cattle raising-related products) worldwide. This entity is made up of retailers and farm producers.
Globalgap is a program that enforces Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) whose regulations on development cover the entire production chain of the certification recipient.
The latest version of this protocol dates back from July 2007, when it ceased to be a standard recognized only in European countries (Eurepgap) and became a global certification, adopting the Globalgap name.
For consumers and distributors, GlobalGAP certification guarantees that food products comply with established quality and safety standards and were manufactured according to sustainability criteria, respecting safety, sanitary and health regulations for workers and the environment.
Agrícola San Clemente has been granted this annually renewable certification for all its orchards.
This protocol is required by Economic European Community countries, Canada, some clients in the USA and requires an additional Good Agricultural Practices certification to export fruit to Taiwan.

BRC (British Retail Consortium)
British Retail Consortium is an association created in October 1998 that brings together most of the British supply chains to help own- brand companies guarantee compliance of legal requirements and assure the highest level of protection for clients and consumers.
This standard was developed with the involvement of different workgroups, such as retailers, monitoring agencies, trade organizations and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). This is useful to assure acceptability and integrity and means significant international recognition for its content, format and maintenance system.
From version 5 -2008- BRC on it is considered a global standard recognized in over 25 countries worldwide.
The purpose of this standard is to specify food safety, quality and legal criteria for selection of food product suppliers of distribution companies, particularly in Britain.
Version 5, currently valid, allows certification of any food processing company of both fresh and canned products, (i.e., raw meat, fruit and vegetables, dairy products, dried foods, confectionery, canned foods, beverages, etc.)
This protocol is required in the United Kingdom, Germany and by some clients from the USA.
